We have been hosting classes on the Constitution using excellent material created by Patriot Academy. The classes are fast-moving and entertaining, and provide excellent insight into the core documents and ideas that form the framework of our freedoms.

We all need to be better grounded in the Constitutional protections for the rights and freedoms we enjoy. This study of the framers and the founding documents is an excellent way to do that. What they established over 200 years ago is the best foundation for a self-governing, free society the world has ever known. It is worth understanding and protecting.

We have presented the Patriot Academy courses five times, with three of those at the Honor Cafe in Conroe, Texas. We now have an opportunity to establish a series of classes and discussions there, using that material and others, with the goal of helping all residents of the County acquire a deeper understanding of our rights, the foundations of those rights, and -- in the words of John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court -- "to teach the rising generations to be free."

With Washington often derelict in their duties, and Texas now standing up for its own Constitutional rights, we are hopeful there will be significant interest in these topics and conversations.

A related need is to support assimilation into being an American for those who have never known anything like our system of freedoms, rights, and responsibilities. One of our courses has excellent Spanish subtitles, and we can use that material if appropriate.

Our intent is to establish a free, ongoing weekly opportunity for all who can join us each week, not just an occasional series of classes.
